2. What kind of product(s) is being advertised?

The products being advertised is the food that is served at McDonald’s.

3. What imagery is used in the advertisement to subvert?

The imagery used in this ad, is the McDonald’s logo, ‘M”, flipped around to be “E”‘s in the words “Eat” and “Die”.

4. What message (text, copy) is used in the advertisement?

The message being advertised in this ad is that if you eat a lot of McDonald’s fast food, you have a higher chance of dying young because many health issues are a result of eating a lot of fast food, like diabetes, heart attack, obesity, strokes, etc.

5. How are the elements and principles of design used to convey a message?

Colour is an element used to convey the messgae because it’s bright and drawns attention from the viewers. Also the colours used in this ad are the two colours used to advertise McDonald’s.

6. Who is the target audience of the advertisement?

This ad targets everyone I think, but mainly young children and young adolescence to warn them not to eat a lot because it doesn’t help you in the long run. It makes your life harder if you have these health issues.

7. Does the ad jam convey a clear and successful message?

The simplicity in the ad helps send a clear message because it’s the words staring you right in the face when you look at it. It’s not a complicated message for anyone to understand.

8. How could the ad jam be improved?

I would maybe add pictures or something a little more visual but besides that, nothing is really in need of a change.

Adbusters- Absolute AA   Leave a comment

1. What company does the advertisement represent/subvert?

The company that this ad represents is Absolute Vodka.

2. What kind of product(s) is being advertised?

The product being advertised is the result of alcohol abuse.

3. What imagery is used in the advertisement to subvert?

The imagery that is used the set up of the chairs at a Alcoholic’s Anonymous meeting is in the shape of a bottle of Absolute Vodka. Showing that with you have no control over your drinking habits, you will need help and you’ll end up at a support group meeting to keep yourself healthy and away from alcohol.

4. What message (text, copy) is used in the advertisement?

The message portrayed in the ad is that the effects of alcohol aren’t healthy or safe for someone to use on a regular basis. If you constantly have alcohol in your system, and are never in a sober state, you are considered an alcoholic and need help. Support groups like Alcoholic’s Anonymous are meant to help people who have resulted this way from their lack of alcohol control.

5. How are the elements and principles of design used to convey a message?

The elements used in this ad to convey the message are the AA meeting chairs in the shape of a bottle of Absolute Vodka.

6. Who is the target audience of the advertisement?

Well the main target of this ad is people who drink alcohol. It’s points out to the drinkers that there are consequences if you have no control and that alcohol isn’t a joking matter. It’s something that can change your life if not handled correctly. And an audience that may not have been targeted directly are young teenagers who think drinking and getting wasted is something cool and normal. It points out the same message as it does to the older audience, that there are consequences to drinking.

7. Does the ad jam convey a clear and successful message?

Yes, in my opinion it does because it’s not to crowded with different messages and it’s not that difficult to see that the chairs are in the shape of a bottle.

8. How could the ad jam be improved?

I don’t think I would change anything about this ad because it displays the message easy and it’s not complicated to understand what they are trying to advertise.

Jersey Shore Spin-Off’s   Leave a comment

It’s offical! After the cast of Jersey Shore wrap up filming their fourth season of the hit MTV series “Jersey Shore” in Italy, MTV will be moving the focus onto Snooki and Jwoww, and Pauly D. MTV has signed these castmembers to do two seperate series; one including Snooki and Jwoww’s lives as roommates and another just focusing on Pauly D travelling around the country focusing on his career as a DJ. Both were signed to doing 12-episodes each, and both scheduled to appear in 2012. Several of the comments on the TMZ website blog are all about not watching the show, but I for one will be watching both of these series.
